Trimethylolpropane trioleate Lubricant Grade is a trivalent fatty acid ester: chemically, it is the ester of the trivalent alcohol trimethylolpropane with oleic acid. The substance therefore belongs to the group of polyol esters and synthetic ester oils.

Industrially, trimethylolpropane trioleate is typically produced by esterifying trimethylolpropane with oleic acid; depending on the raw material base, the oleic acid can come from vegetable oils. The most important precursors are therefore primarily trimethylolpropane and oleic acid, or the corresponding fatty acid/oil fractions.
