Trioctyl phosphate is, chemically, an organic phosphoric acid ester; the commonly used trade name usually refers in practice to tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (CAS 78-42-2). It is a colorless to pale yellow, oily liquid with a high molecular weight and a strongly lipophilic character.
Substance group/product group: phosphate esters, technically usually classified as an additive, plasticizer, or flame retardant.
