General informations:

Diacetyl, also known as 2,3-butanedione, is a yellowish-green or colorless liquid with a strong, buttery odor. Its chemical formula is C4H6O2, and it has a molecular mass of about 86.09 g/mol.

Physically, diacetyl is liquid at room temperature and has a boiling point of about 88 degrees Celsius. It is soluble in water, alcohol, and ether.
