Lauryl alcohol is the common name for 1-dodecanol or dodecan-1-ol (also n-dodecyl alcohol). It is a long-chain fatty alcohol with the molecular formula C12H26O. Lauryl alcohol is a colorless to whitish, waxy to viscous substance with a characteristic, fatty, or mildly odorous smell.
